Clarington is a municipality located in Southern Ontario. It was known as Newcastle but the name was changed in 1994. It has a population of over 80,000 people and covers over 600 square kilometres. The name is a combination of “Clarke” and “Darlington“, two previous townships that made up the municipality. Bowmanville is the largest community in the Clarington and is the centre of the municipal offices.
There are major employers in Clarington which include the Darlington Nuclear Generating Station, General Motors Canada, and Durham York Energy Center.
